Alber Elbaz for Lanvin ... my new obssesion

As I was flipping thru this months magazines I could not help myself always finding LANVIN. Being curious and intrigued, I started to research Alber Elaz and his sensibility, creativity and amazing ability to use his skills in drapping.I was mesmerized by his spring 2011 collection. Strong ,feminime and modern; Elbaz had originally designed incridibly high shoes for his spring collection but after seeing the models fall one after the other made a bold decision to have them wear flats .

"I wanted models to stride down the runway with real power. But when one after the other stumbled, I could see fear in their faces. So I told them to wear flats. And all of a sudden , everything looked right..Women are powerful;their strength is internal. They need a wardrobe that lets them be themselves instend of what a designer thinks they should be."

"Fashion is instintive and sensual. Learn to love what you
wear. It should feel like eating chocolates .. without the calories."... I love this man ..lol

"Fashion isn't an intellectual excercise , its about creating something desirable." Thats the philosophy that has made the Lanvin designer so beloved.
Taking a high-fashion approach to lower-priced clothing is the mentality lanvin took to colaborate for H&M
"Nothing is more appealing then someone who embaces her maturity." The designer has a key eye to dress any age.

Scaasi - american couturier

I recently went to the Scaasi show at the MFA in Boston and was completly mesmerized by the beauty and elegance of the lady-like designs and the breath taking peices!
Arnold Scaasi designed and made clothes for some of America's most talented and famous women from Sophia Loren to Joan Rivers. Even Barbara Bush got a hold of some of his unique pieces!
a drawing of Arnald Scaasi..
The silver dress with red coat was created for the broadway actress and television star Arlene Francis to wear in the climactic Once more, with feeling. The bubble-skirted dress show-cases Scaasi's ability to display his fabric choice to maximum effect while still emplying intricate drapping and pleating.
This gorgeous black dress is completly covered in small silk bows and was worn by Natalie Wood ,who called it "the sexiest dress in the world".
In 1974, Scaasi incorporated innovative embroidered and appliqued fabrics into his collection. This is a great exemple of how the designer continued to produce his tradmark emsembles even as his silhouettes and hemlines changed with the times
Scaasi wanted to create a youthful ensemble for the 23 yr old
Barbara Streisand to wear to the 1969 academy awards . The pantsuit, which Barbara called it "kind of nutty", became one of the events most infamous ensembles appearing transparent when the glare from hundreds of flashbulbs hit it.
This unique ensemble was worn by Gayfryd Steinberg and also ordered by Elizabeth Taylor. The designer fused small metallic "stickers" to the silk to give it a shimmer and allow the petals to become stiff , giving the gown a feathery texual apperance .

Get ready girls and boys! Spring 2011 is here

Think of fashion as a continuous cycle that re-inventes it self ..ALWAYS..
The insipiration for the season must have come out of a magical 70's style attic because it is full of bold neon colors that pop in your eyes , dramatically wild prints , beautiful lady-like cuts and silhouettes and lacy seductive prints that would make any fashionista fall in love!

Jil sander is a wonderful designer to watch this season with beautiful eye popping colors that can easily be mixed and matched with black as seen here

Notice that this season the "lady-like chic" is back with a classic style that would compliment any figure !

Notice how high the waist is giving the legs a long river-like flow

Usually the word 'LACE' remainds me of weddings and underwear, but this season the designers, unlike myself, thought outside of "the box" and brought out beautiful, inspiring garmets that made me drool with attention as seen here by alice+olivia and Alexander Wang

spring 2011 what to expect :)

One of the things that I ABSOLUTLY love in fashion is the sensation that I get when I see a trend that was brought back from a decade ago or so ,renewed with a ferocious desire to change how people behave and think .. Welcome to spring 2011 :)
